Windows 7 and Windows Vista: Instructions for changing the Data Execution Prevention settings

Data Execution Prevention
Data Execution Provention on Windows 8, Windows 7 and Windows Vista can interfere with the software protection libraries used by our products and cause them to crash at startup. When data execution prevention is interfering with the running of the app you will normally only see the splash screen at startup and then it will crash before the main window is displayed. To prevent this from happening you need to change the Windows Vista data execution prevention settings by either turning it off for all but essential Windows programs and services or by adding an exception for our apps to allow them to run. This can be done as follows:

1) Click on the Windows start icon in the toolbar and select "Control Panel" from the start menu:

2) Click on "System and Maintenance" in the Control Panel:

3) Click on "System" in the System and Maintenance panel:

4) Click on "Advanced system settings" in the System panel:

5) Click on the "Advanced" tab in the System Properties window and then click on "Settings..." in the Performance section:

6) Click on the "Data Execution Prevention" tab and either select the first option "Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only"

or select "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select:", click on the "Add..." button and locate the executable programs you wish to add as exceptions e.g. C:\Program Files\BreezeSys\BreezeBrowserPro\BreezeBrowser.exe

8) Click OK and close the Control Panel window
